"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you."
Matthew 28:19-20
Jesus commanded us to go out and make disciples of all the nations, but what if you're a stay at home mama, making weekly trips to the library or the park or what if you're a single or a working mama, dropping your kids off at the crack of dawn to work and bring dinner home for your family?
Sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day to go "out" and share the gospel and make disciples of all nations when you're a Mama.
Sometimes, especially for stay at home Mamas, staying within the four walls of your home, day in and day out, watching the same shows or changing the same poopy diapers can feel like the furthest thing from a ministry or a commission.
But in reality, your own home is a Mission Field -A Great Commission- in itself.
Your children might not feel like a "ministry", but they really are.
God has called us to make disciples of all nations. Abraham was the father of many, many nations, and it had to start somewhere: His immediate descendants.
To me, that sounds like God is calling you, Mama, to make disciples of your children within the four walls of your home. (Your "nation".)
That can look like anything: The way you worship, the way you pray, the way you walk in Biblical ways.
They will see, and they will mirror that. (Trust me, I have an 18 month old and she repeats everything we say and do!) They will see your hands raised, your defeated tears and see you pray without ceasing, and they will grow up learning about the goodness of Jesus.
God asked us not only to make disciples of all nations, but to also, "Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you."
Society claims Motherhood as a "high risk, low reward" role, but I think it couldn't be more wrong. What a huge honor it is to be called to teach my children, my nation, about our Savior and all that God has commanded us to do in the Bible.
How can that be a "low reward"?!
You are literally building your nation, your family, your generations, to be disciples of Jesus Christ!
And to encourage you, Mama:
Don't feel the shame that the world is giving you by going to work and not "ministering" to your children.
God called you to be their Mama. He knows you go to work Monday-Friday. You are ministering in your coming and your going. He gave those wonderful children to you knowing that you are one heck of a Mama, ministering to your family and going to work!
You go, Mama!
Not all of us are called to work and be a mom, just like not all of us are called to be a stay at home mom.
Just like not all of us were called to foster or adopt.
We are all so different, and that's what makes womanhood so incredible!
So, Mama.
Please do not let Satan destroy your ministering spirit just because you became a mother and don't have time to fly overseas or even travel to another state to "make disciples of all nations."
You have a special calling, a very, very special nation within the four walls of your home that God has given you to minister to!
Be encouraged today that you are definitely not unseen, unnoticed or unworthy just because you either have children or stay at home with them. You have such a special role in your home, even if you are there a few hours of the day or all hours of the day!
God bless you, Mama, and your nation!
This is literally something that I have struggled with recently. I think the enemy was trying to condemn me to be honest. And I needed to be reminded that my children are my biggest ministry. Thank you for another beautiful reminder of this Truth. Love you and your heart for Jesus so very much.
