My brother loves all things manly. When I asked him if I could plan his birthday party, he said "yes, but remember I am turning 20. I'm grown up."
Yeah okay. Ha! Birthday parties can be for adults, too! I knew that I wanted to surprise him with an obstacle course where he could run around with his pals with airsoft guns and do a bunch of manly stuff or whatever. Our older brother was in the Marine Corpse and I immediately knew what I was going to do. I had him and his friend, who was also in the Marines with him, act as Boot Camp Sergeants and take the "platoon" on a fun and team building obstacle course. They each had bandana's, "badges", water bottles ('cause down here in the south, it was about 93 degrees that afternoon!) and then air softguns of their choice.

They all thought that they were prepping for an airsoft war, haha, but little did they know that their butts were about to be whooped! Cpl Thompson and Cpl Johnson lead the boys through team building courses and they had to protect themselves and their teammates. If one person messed up a task, everybody had to start over. They also had opposition to face. Some of my family members, including my husband, who weren't in the platoon, were shooting at them and acting as bad guys. Cpl Thompson and Cpl Johnson would hear fire crackers pop next to them and bark orders at the platoon to "DROP! DROP! ENEMY FIRE!" At one
point, one of the boys didn't heed their advice and got "injured", forcing his teammates to drag him the rest of the way through the obstacle course.
You never leave your man behind. It was an awesome way to truly make teamwork the dreamwork!! The boys had to throw "grenades" and blew up a "bomb", as well as army crawl, drag their injured man through a 5-foot deep pit, swing across a "mine field" without falling in...it was as manly as it could have been! It left all the boys grinning from ear-to-ear and wishing the course was longer. Then came the best part:
FOOD!!
Happy birthday, little bro! Love ya so much. H O O R A H!
Love,
Hosanna
